Why I think Google is Great!
OK, this sounds like a silly post title that may be looking to:
- “brown-nose” Google or
- state the obvious (yes, “Captain Obvious”, I hear ya’!) or even
- just write something for the purpose of, well, writing something!
It’s none of the above. I had a great interaction today with one of their employees. Here’s the story:
Since moving to Tampa (sorry SW Florida) not so long ago, I’ve been making all the proper address changes both offline and online. Then, today, I did something really amateurish with my Google local business listings page – you know, the one that shows your local business on Google Maps? The one that helps you get found?
What did I do that was so bad? I changed the address on my listing to a PO Box (shame, shame) and clicked a couple of things here and there and BAM! My local listing got suspended (queue up the dramatic movie sound: BUM BUM BUM BAAAAH). I had also not updated this website yet, and removed my telephone no. (another no-no!).
What was I THINKING?
How could this be?! I KNOW what I’m doing, I’ve been doing Internet marketing for the past, oh, I don’t know…10-15 years!! It’s kind of like most business owners – they often take better care of their customers/clients than they do themselves.
So, here’s why I think Google is Great:
There was a help button on the very same page that reported my account had been suspended. When I clicked on it, I was taken to an information page that led me (very quickly) to a form where there was a promise that someone would call soon. Guess what? Someone from Google called right away. It was Jamarr A. from “The Google My Business Team”. He was very pleasant, informative, and helpful. After a brief conversation, Jamarr promised that their technical team would review my page and let me know if the suspension could be lifted. He said it would take 24-48 hours.
Well, it was only a few hours later that I received another call from Jamarr – the suspension was lifted and the page was back up!
Thank you Google, for providing an easy way to contact you and have my situation remedied. I believe Google is [even more (!)] Great!
